Miscellany Monday and a 'Thank You' Giveaway!!!

Happy Miscellany Monday everyone!  I am so thankful for another beautiful weekend we have been able to enjoy over the last couple days.  Here's today's miscellany for me...

1.  My first giveaway!  Thank you, THANK YOU for being so supportive and encouraging of me on this little blog of mine.  I am so excited to have some lovely new followers.  I sincerely love the opportunity to encourage and be encouraged by people I have never met in person, but whose hearts I can totally relate to.  This little piece of the world-wide-web has blessed me with moments of sweet joy.  I set a goal to have my first giveaway when I reached 50 followers, and thanks to the lovely Laura from Just For Love, I reached this goal yesterday!  So here's what I'm giving away:

Max Lucado's Out Live Your Life

This book is crazy good.  A "full of powerful truth, gets you in the gut, calls you to action" kind of good.  All the proceeds go to World Vision, an organization that also sponsors and supports those around the world who need it most.  Each chapter of this book gets more and more convicting, calling us to live out the lives Jesus called us to, so in essence we grasp the opportunity to "out live our lives," or do something beyond our own personal, temporary desires and gains.  He highlights the joy and fruit of living for God's glory, rather than our own.  I am reading it, and would love for you to read along!!  Watch a video of the vision of this book here.

And, just for fun, the other part of this giveaway is one of my headband creations, in whatever color you would like!

Please be a follower to participate...I love blog-world friends! :)

3 ways to enter -
1. Leave a comment telling me the most recent thing you've read, heard or done that's challenged you to change the way you live your life.

2.  Leave a comment telling me what headband you like best so far.

3. Blog about this giveaway and leave a comment telling me you did.

(You can do one or all three, depending on how many times you would like to be entered; each comment is a separate entry!)

The winner will be randomly selected and announced on Wednesday, October 20th.

2. Sweet Saturday.  Last week I answered some "tag" questions about my perfect Saturday.  Well, this past one was pretty great.  After I slept in for a bit, Kevin and I loaded up Chai, our Bibles, a handful of books and headed down the road to a cute little cafe that is relatively new to the area.  We have never been there before, but it has a good chance of becoming our new favorite place.  After some reading, studying, drinking tea, and enjoying the most fabulous lunch, we walked to a close by walking trail and enjoyed a hike in the sunshine.  What a relaxing and fun Fall day we had!  "No make-up" days are the best.

(Kevin, trying to look pensive.  It's working for you babe.)

Mine was a roasted vegetable sandwich with goat cheese, asparagus, portabella mushrooms and roasted red peppers - Yum!

3.  Baby boy necessity?  I recently mentioned I have a new nephew, and I am thinking it might be cute to order some "pee-pee tee pees" for them, as this is their first boy.  But what do I know...have any of you ever tried these cute little contraptions, or are they not really practical?  It seems like a good idea...

PPTP on Etsy - On sale for $4.00!

Sprinkler Covers from This and That Etc. on Etsy - $14.00

4.  Ten Kids, No Pets.  If you are looking for a fun read-aloud, I love "Ten Kids, No Pets," my most favorite and memorable story that my fourth grade teacher Mrs. Escott read to our class.  was so excited to come across it at the library last week and start reading it to my student.  Such a cute story.  Of course Ann M. Martin has a special place in my heart, as I'm pretty sure I read every single "Babysitter's Club" book she wrote!  (I was an official "club member".) :)  Oh the joys of childhood!

5.  I have only had one latte from Starbucks in the last week!!  I am, however, drowning myself in green tea.  Espresso, I love you...but I have to learn to live without you.

Happy Miscellany Monday to you!!

I kid you not...I almost bought this book today because KLove has been promoting it big time lately, and has made it sound SO amazing. Max Lucado was on the other day and was reading an excerpt from the book, and it seriously made me think. I would absolutely LOVE to win this.

I'm a follower of your blog, of course :)

Oh yay, a giveaway! I was inspired yesterday in church when our pastor challenged us to read the entire New Testament by the end of the year. He said it takes, on average, only 18 hours to do this.....if I read just 3-4 chapters a day, it can easily be accomplished! And, all who do, get to be invited to a spaghetti dinner hosted by our Pastor and his wife....who doesn't love spaghetti?!? :) That's my inspiration!

Also, I'm diggin' the beautiful black bows....that's my fave headband so far! You are so talented, my dear!

The book Crazy Love by Francis Chan has been the most recent thing to challenge me to change the way I think and live as a child of God.

What a fun giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win, Page! I just love your blog!

And it is very hard to pick a favorite headband but I would have to say the white one with the blue beads. They are all so stinkin' cute though! : )

Ooh, a book... the most recent book I've completed is Chasing Superwoman: a Working Mom's Adventures in Life and Faith, by Susan Dimickele. I'll be honest that this wasn't a book I chose, but I read it to write a "book review" for my writing class. Though I read it rather begrudgingly, I found that it was an enjoyable read. :)

Entry One: I am #51 follower to your blog! :) I just came across it today from "The Blessed Life" and I'm so glad I did! My challenge: Well I am going through some pretty rough challenges right now! And have been for years but I am into my 2nd year of marriage and am just 30 years old and I have Chronic Severe Endometriosis, PCOS and Interstitial Cystitis. I am in pain just about every single day of my life. I have had about 9 surgeries in my lifetime and enough is enough! My husband and I are trying to have children but my conditions are making that seemingly impossible! But, we know that nothing is impossible with God! Feel free to check out my blog(s) if you'd like to read more:

By the way, I grew up absolutely loving "The Babysitters Club" too! I have all of their books and all their videos! Me and my friends used to pretend to be "the girls" and we would recite the movies to each other all the time! So fun! Those were good times!

Thank you so much for giving us an opportunity to win such a great book! I'm a new follower and I'll be back! :)

I am new to your blog and will be following along too!
I am a 911 dispatcher and pretty much every call that comes in, makes me challenge to live my life differently. I have heard some pretty crazy things and super sad ones also. But whenever I leave work I just pray that I can always do the Lord's work and be the best Mother possible.

What a tough decision! I absolutely love headbands #1 and #4! Although, I have short hair so I'm not sure how they would look on me, I have always loved these!

Page! I'm so excited to get a chance into this giveaway! I LOVE what you are doing right now and LOVE, LOVE how God is pursuing you in magnificent ways and you're chasing right back as full-force as you can. Your faith is so inspiring and just your blog alone is being so inspirational to me. I am reading Radical right now by David Platt and it is definitely challenging me to rethink my approach to scripture.

Thanks for the giveaway!
