It's Finally Come to This

Last Tuesday I mentioned I was responsible for taking dessert to my Bible Study, and I shared the recipe for a yummy Fruit Pizza.  Well, at least that was something fun to own up to.  Last night, however, was quite different.  Once again I had signed up to take dessert, but the error of my ways was signing up for the same week as Parent Conferences at school.  Bad timing.  So last night, after spending a frustrating few hours desperately trying to get everything ready and finalized with the Progress Reports, I was racing the clock to get home and make Oreo truffles, as well as a fabulous fruit dip.  Needless to say, the clock won.  At 6:30, approximately the very same time some girls start arriving for Bible Study, I was finally walking out of school, praying God would help me think of something creative and clever to pick up at the grocery store for my "spontaneous" dessert.  This is what I walked out with...seriously.

To the common snacker this might seem like no big deal.  But to me, the girl who has been baking up the best recipes I can find for Bible Study or group gatherings for the last 15 years, this was a low point.  I seriously thought to myself, "Well, it's finally come to this."  On one hand, this is embarrassing.  On the other, if you have to go with junk food, this is definitely the route to take.  (And I knew Kevin would eat the leftovers!)  Alas, Martha Stewart I am not.  But weary I so very am.  By the way, for those of you thinking it, I totally realize pre-planning would have completely eliminated this situation.  I'm a work in progress.

Bright side #1: Only 2 more days until this school week is over.
Bright side #2: At least I have the ingredients for the Oreo Truffles.  Coming Soon!

"Thank you Lord for loving me in my chaos and sustaining me in my exhaustion!"

"Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."  Isaiah 40:28-31

It might not be the same as making something (I had this same small group/work struggle two years ago), but at least you had fun spring oreos!

I love that you posted this! And pre-planning?! Girl, you pre-plan yourself like crazy all day long in our crazy profession. Martha Stewart needs to live in the real world for a day. haha. You're doing a great job balancing everything...you inspire me! Left you a little blog love on my blog tonight. :) Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!

What's funny about taking this picture is that it was AFTER the Bible Study!!! That is how little they actually ate of it! Hilarious...and obviously a lesson learned!
